Cleveland Point Recreation Reserve
Cleveland Point Recreation Reserve offers an unobstructed panorama that’s simply stunning at both sunrise and sunset, surrounded by bay on all sides. The iconic historic wooden lighthouse adds a touch of charm and history, making it a popular subject for photographers. Pack a cozy blanket and enjoy a front-row seat to natures spectacle.
Wellington Point Recreation Reserve
Wellington Point Recreation Reserve is, without a doubt, a locals’ favourite spot to take in the sunrise (or sunset) on Redlands Coast. When the tide is right, you can experience one of the most unique walks in South East Queensland, a one-kilometre sand bridge to heritage-listed King Island.
Redland Bay Foreshore
This walk follows the coastline of Redland Bay from Sel Outridge Park where you can complete the 3.9-kilometre out-and-back trail or simply find a grassy spot to laze under while you take in the view. The trail looks out to the Southern Moreton Bay Islands with boats often anchored here, adding a soothing soundtrack of boats gently bobbing on the water to enhance your experience.
Amity Point Jetty
Located on North Stradbroke Island’s (Minjerribah) north-west coast, Amity Point exudes a laid back, fishing village charm that draws people who love the calmness of the outdoors. Sunsets at the landmark Amity Point jetty are particularly awe-inspiring with resident bottlenose dolphins frequently spotted visiting in the afternoons and evenings.
The Gorge
We couldn’t have a blog about the golden horizons without mentioning this gem – The Gorge Walk on North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah). This impressive coastal boardwalk is arguably the most picturesque and insta-worthy trail on Redlands Coast. The trail features ocean views where it’s rare NOT to spot dolphins, dugongs, turtles, manta rays and other marine life frolicking in the ocean so make sure to head there with enough daylight to spot these beauties before you take in the beautiful sunrise or sunset – whatever your preference.
Mount Bippo Penbean Summit
While we are on the topic of elevating that heart rate, another hike to add to the bucket-list includes Mount Bippo Penbean Summit, located on the second largest sand island in the world, North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah). This one is for sunrise - the 6.4- kilometre return track with an elevation gain of 185-metres is the second highest peak on the island, offering stunning vistas south over the island’s heath covered sand dunes. On clear days, the panoramic views stretch to New South Wales and north to the Sunshine Coast.
Mount Vane Summit
Obviously we were building to something – and that something is Mount Vane Summit, the highest peak on North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah). Follow the 6-kilometre return Jarlo Beetle Track amongst twisted scribbly gum, spotting the beautiful and distinctive purple flowers of the Forest boronia. Once you’ve reached the summit, you’ll be spoilt with 360-degree views of the island, south to the Gold Coast and north to the Glasshouse Mountains. The sunrises are undeniably dreamy here!
North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah) Beaches
Any one of the island’s beaches would be a top spot for a sunrise or sunset in our books. Do we really need to explain? The photo speaks for itself. Picture this: this stunning backdrop, a cozy picnic rug, the soothing sounds of the ocean. What more could you ask for?
Brown Lake
This natural beauty is located inside the Naree Budjong Djara National Park of North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah). An absolutely mesmerizing spot to witness the first light of the day and to set the tone for the remainder of your day.
