For over 21,000 years the Nunukul, Nughi, and Goenpul Peoples, collectively known as the Quandamooka People, have nurtured a profound connection with the natural wonders of this region. Delvene Cockatoo-Collins Art 

Delvene Cockatoo-Collins, a renowned Quandamooka artist, has made a lasting impact through various prestigious projects. Among her notable works are the design of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Medals, the ‘Eugaries’ public artworks at Point Lookout (Mulumba), the 2024 Brisbane Broncos Indigenous Round Jersey, and the ‘Land, Sea and Sky’ installation at the Brisbane International Airport Terminal, to name a few.

Situated in Dunwich (Goompi) on North Stradbroke (Minjerribah), the Delvene Cockatoo-Collins Art studio and retail store embodies her independent spirit as a First Nations artist. Here, Delvene handprints and naturally dyes stories passed down from her mother and grandmother onto linen homewares and clothing. Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in these narratives, and can acquire individually handprinted homewares, clothing, body adornments, and original artworks. The Red, Black, and Yellow Shop, owned and operated by Quandamooka man Patrick Coolwell and his family, embodies a deep passion for preserving and celebrating Indigenous culture. They specialise in offering a diverse range of authentic Aboriginal arts, crafts, gifts, and souvenirs. Beyond their curated selection, the shop also provides enriching cultural tours, workshops, and immersive experiences including traditional dancing and smoking ceremonies. Salt Water Murris Quandamooka Aboriginal Art Gallery

A little gallery with a big heart, the Salt Water Murris’ Quandamooka Aboriginal Art Gallery is a must-see when visiting North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah). The gallery exhibits a large collection of art, textiles, accessories and souvenirs created by Quandamooka artists, as well as facilitates the teaching, learning and sharing of community historical and cultural knowledge through workshops. Matt Burns, a dedicated Quandamooka man, takes great pride in sharing his cultural heritage through a variety of engaging and educational experiences. His offerings are designed to provide insight into Quandamooka traditions and practices. Visitors can participate in informative cultural talks where Matt showcases his own handcrafted artifacts, join hands-on workshops to learn the art of boomerang painting and throwing, experience the ancient rituals of traditional smoking ceremonies, and explore the natural surroundings on guided cultural trail walk.
